Men Are From Mars

by Tomi Fratto

Men are such unusual creatures
That’s because they are from Mars.
Somehow they found the planet earth
On a beer run through the stars.

Ignoring their galaxy maps
They cruised boldly out in space.
Got lost but never told their crew,
Admission would be disgrace.

Suddenly seized by gravity
Their ship gyrated through the air.
At last the nose crashed into dirt,
“Wherever this is,We’re there.”

Nearby there was a colony
A group who came from Venus.
Sent to study this habitat,
Selected for their genius.

The martian men saw the campfires
And strolled into their retreat.
“Hello there ladies, that smells good
Is dinner ready to eat?

A pattern was soon established,
Each night the men stopped by to feast.
They dropped off their dirty laundry
To be washed in the cold creeks.

“Why are we Venus pioneers,
Who are certainly quite smart,
Acting as though we are servants
To those who laugh when they fart?”

The wisest lady among them
Said “Girls, patience is a gift.
Those martians will come in handy
When big rocks we have to lift.”

That was many eons ago
Back to Mars the men did not roam.
We ladies need them here anyway
When we move to a new home.
